HANOVER AND KING WILLIAM HABITAT FOR HUMANITY (HKWHFH) ACCOUNTANT
Reports to the Executive Director
Job Summary: Responsible for planning and coordinating all aspects of Finance and Payroll Administration for Hanover & King William Habitat for Humanity. Manages Finance and Administrative Assistant.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all Daily Transactions including supervision of those executed by the Finance and Administrative Assistant
- Responsible for cash flow projections – weekly, monthly, and annually
- Act as Payroll Administrator for the organization including processing bi-weekly payroll and related journal entries
- Compile annual budget from departmental data and provide monthly analysis of budget to actual
- Responsible for all Year End Transactions including schedules and year-end accruals/journal entries prior to the audit
- Work closely with an Independent Audit team to support the Annual Audit
- Work closely with the Treasurer on monthly financials and bank reconciliations
- Prepare monthly financial reports for the Board of Directors
- Staff liaison to Finance Committee
- Act as Benefits Manager of the organization including shopping and administering all benefits programs
- Manage all aspects of Long-Term Debt
- Manage all Mortgages Receivable, including Habitat-held mortgages
- Management, documentation, and reporting for all Federal and State grants
- Ensure that the affiliate is in compliance with all tax filings, licenses, certifications
- Ensure the affiliate has appropriate insurance in place for auto, general liability, and workers’ compensation
- Maintain relationships with commercial banking partners
- Review closing documents for all HKW loans
- Work with the legal team as needed
- Maintain appropriate document retention for affiliate
- Ensure that Internal Controls are in place and executed throughout the affiliate
- Work closely with Executive Director to maintain appropriate policies
- Communicate with Managers regarding budget adherence throughout the year
- Tracking and managing subordinate mortgages, including releases, when needed
- Manage the transition to a cloud-based accounting software
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s in Business Administration with an accounting concentration
- Nonprofit experience preferred
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that must evolve to meet the needs of the mission
- Strong analytical skills, common sense, and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently, to set and balance priorities, and to take initiative
- Customer service focused
- 5 years of experience in GAAP accounting and financial management
- Preferred: Existing Notary
FLSA status: Exempt
Schedule: 35 hours a week, this role currently requires that you are in the office Monday through Friday – however, there is a potential for remote work on Wednesdays and Fridays once we have converted our accounting system
Salary Range: $58,000-$70,000 depending on years and depth of experience
