For Jessica Lloyd, the journey to homeownership has been one of faith, perseverance, and deep love for her family. A resident of Hanover County, Jessica is a dedicated single mother of three—Kaylyn (14), Ethan (2), and baby Jayce—who has worked tirelessly to provide a safe and stable life for her children and her mother, whom she also cares for.
After years of believing homeownership through Habitat for Humanity was out of reach, Jessica took a leap of faith and applied in May 2024. Now, she is preparing to purchase her first home through Hanover and King William Habitat for Humanity—an answered prayer a decade in the making.
Jessica works full-time and balances her professional life with being a hands-on mom. Her oldest, Kaylyn, is heading to high school, while Ethan and Jayce are busy growing, learning, and keeping their mom on her toes.
Jessica’s ties to Hanover run deep—from childhood to her first job, she has witnessed the growth of this community and looks forward to planting permanent roots here. Despite her busy schedule, she regularly participates in local events with her children and is committed to volunteering with Habitat now and in the future to support other families on their homeownership journey.
Her path has not been easy. From overcoming a difficult childhood and raising her children on her own to managing financial hardship in an era of rising costs, Jessica’s story is one of resilience and unwavering faith. She sees every challenge as a stepping stone that has led her to this moment.
To Jessica and her family, owning a home means more than just having a roof over their heads—it means breaking generational cycles, creating lasting stability, and building a forever home filled with love, safety, and hope.
“Looking back, every obstacle has prepared me for this moment. This is our time—me, my children, and my mother. Building a forever home has been my dream for years, and now, my prayers have been answered.” — Jessica Lloyd
