A new Virginia law, known as the Faith in Housing Act (HB 1279/SB 388), creates a new opportunity for eligible religious organizations and certain nonprofits to use land they own for affordable housing. Beginning January 1, 2027, qualifying projects can be developed by-right, without requiring a rezoning or certain discretionary zoning approvals.
