Ms. Russ purchased Habitat’s 3 bed 2 bath home located off River Road in King William County. It was Hanover and King William Habitat for Humanity’s first home in the county and its 79th home since 1991.  To celebrate this milestone, friends, family, Habitat representatives, and the community gathered to celebrate in a home dedication on Friday, January 5th.

Habitat’s homeownership program, which Ms. Russ was a part of, provides local residents and workers the opportunity to own a home at an affordable price. Buyers generally do not spend more than 30% of their income on their mortgage payments, so that they can be financially secure in being able to afford other necessary expenses.

We are grateful for the following partnerships that helped give Ms. Russ a few extra supplies to help her get started in her new home:

  • Wegmans filled the pantry and fridge with groceries
  • Hamilton Beach donated small kitchen appliances
  • Housewarming gift baskets were put together by the King William Ruritans, Farm Bureau Women Committee, King William County administrative office employees, Bell Acre Farms, and the King William Fire and EMS
  • A local volunteer created a homemade quilt
  • A local volunteer created personalized kitchen towels.
  • A local volunteer gave Ms. Russ a new houseplant

Thank you Aylett Tire for their hospitality throughout the construction of Ms. Russ’ home.

Thank you Eugene Campbell for taking photographs at the Dedication.
