On Thursday, August 17 at 6:00 p.m., we celebrated with Krystal and Nyla the completion of their new home. Many friends, families, and community members joined us as we kicked off the next chapter in their lives. See the program here.
This was our Faith Build home. Faith Build is a partnership with local churches, faith-based organizations, and businesses. Local churches and friends of the faith community have gathered to help build and fund this home for Krystal & Nyla.
We are grateful for the support from the PDC Housing Development Program for this home. This program seeks to increase the inventory of affordable housing units in underserved markets, including rural areas and historically marginalized communities, with a focus on first-time homebuyers. Virginia Housing, Plan RVA, and the Partnership for Housing Affordability partnered through this program to invest in our work.
Thank you, Rappahannock Electric Cooperative, for your grant to cover the windows and doors costs. The CARE charity can award grants to nonprofits through the generosity of the Rappahannock Electric Cooperative member-owners who round up their electric bills through the Power of Change program.
Thank you, Wegmans, for filling Krystal’s pantry and fridge.
Thank you, Hamilton Beach, for donating small appliances for Krystal’s new kitchen.
Thank you, Hilliard Park Garden Club, for donating flowers and shrubs.
We are pledged to the letter and spirit of the U.S. policy for the achievement of equal housing opportunity throughout the nation. We encourage and support an affirmative advertising and marketing program in which there are no barriers to obtaining housing because of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin.
