On November 11, 2023, we held a community kickoff event to celebrate the beginning of our 5 home development in the town of Ashland. These lots are at the corner of S. Taylor and Arlington. As part of the event, we also broke ground on our first home with future homeowner, Chris.
Check out pictures from the event here! Read a great news article published in the Local here.

About STAR
Hanover and King William Habitat for Humanity will be developing 1.5 acres in Ashland at the corner of South Taylor Street and Arlington Street into a five-lot affordable home development. Habitat affectionately calls it their STAR project, short for S. Taylor and ARlington Streets.
This project will cost approximately $1,600,000 to develop five affordable homes due to the infrastructure costs, street-level work, and the cost of home construction. To date, we have raised $960,000. We still need to raise $640,000 to make this project a reality.
We have identified the families that will live in these homes, which include 6 adults and 14 children.
Please consider becoming a financial supporter of this project and of our mission. No donation is too small to help offset these costs and help build a home with an affordable mortgage for 5 families.
Various sponsorship levels are available:
- House Sponsorship – $100,000 (sole home sponsor with naming rights)
- Frame Sponsorship – $30,000
